Finding the Time

You know how there just aren’t enough hours in the day?  I had a conversation with a woman who was interested in coming over to help keep my horses ridden–you know, so that it’s not like starting over every time you go to get one out.  Anyway, we were trying to arrange a time for her to come out and “meet the kids”.  First, it was too hot.  Then she was busy.  Then I was busy.  I then received an email lamenting that during my busy time, “I sat around all weekend with NOTHING to do.”

Really?  Nothing?  I don’t remember what that’s like.  Between the J.o.b. and the mowing, and the cleaning house, and cleaning stalls, and painting, and patching, and feeding, and dragging, and spraying, and trimming hooves, and baling, and seal coating, and gardening, and and and…   Nothing?

And then I started to wonder how I would feel about somebody prancing onto my property with Nothing better to do than play with my horses.   I tried to focus on how it would benefit me.  How it would be a win-win arrangement.  Tried pretty hard.  But then there’s this mental image of her standing beside the arena with my horse tacked up waiting for me to finish dragging it so she can ride.  Just doesn’t work for me.

Instead, I decided the driveway doesn’t look that bad and the lawn doesn’t either.  Heck, it’s just going to grow again anyway, right?

I am riding my horses.
